Leek Dance in Luxembourg
It is wonderful, how internet can bring you back to the places, which you visited, to people, you met, to feelings, you had. Of course, it is not the real feeling, but that can be a nostalgic moment, which will bring you the idea to contact people face to face or to visit the place one more time.
I was in Luxembourg in April 2009. Thanks go to Regional Youth Centre in Košice, which gave me a offer to go there and participate in course organised by Service National de Juenese in the frame of the Plateforme Network in Eisenborn.
Perfect people from many countries, perfect days and evenings (maybe we can say nights). I still chat with friends from this ten-day meeting, I know, what is new and we plan an international meeting in Finland somtimes in near future.
One day we spent in Luxembourg, the capital. We were playing there "trading game" and walking down the street, when we met very nice young people, who ask us to dance with a leek in one hand. Yes. Dance with a leek. Ansku and Andrejc, dancing in the video and our Luxembourg friends, thank you for nice aftenoon. I will never forget!
And here is the video from Luxembourg leek dance, which I found on YouTube:
I believe
I am thinking about viral marketing a lot these days. After the conference Internet je sexy (Internet is sexy), which took place on 22nd and 23rd September in Bratislava and where they were said many opinions and ideas about online public relations and marketing, I can only say: "I am in that group of people, who believe."
Sure, I don´t think, that it is the only one way how to influence audience. The combination of outdoor events, interactive internet activities and media, can be successful, i think. Yes, there is a possibility, that our ambitions can end in failure, but there is still temtation, to try something. Something new, something creative, something, what can failed in few last seconds. And something, what can shoot you up.
Viral is for me like cooking. You can try to cook chocolate cake with spices and vegetable and you don´t know, how it will end and how many people will try it. But maybe they will. Maybe it will be popular recipe. Or it will be only fun to watch video, how you are cooking, eating and serving it to strange people in the middle of mainstreet. You don´t know.
It may not be very expensive and smart idea can travel around the world. I think, that you only have to open your mind. To listen, watch, read, try to feel and understand. Not to try change people, they are not stupid and they can find out, what is the matter. You can try to find, what can be a little crazy, but still something from the minds and lifes of your audience, people, who you are drinking beer with at Friday nights.

What is normal and what is not?
After few seconds of dancing and singing my colleague stopped and said: "Don´t worry, I don´t use to be so crazy,... I am really normal." It was so nice, natural and optimistic. She left to her office and I asked myself: "What is normal and what is not?" Is it normal to behave like still water in the plastic bottle? Only move where the bottle is moving?
Our minds are wider than minds of our grandfathers. Is it because of media and uncensored information about people from all over the world? What is normal for us and what was normal for them?
We are open to talk about our lives, to chat with strange people, to share our opinions, ideas, our pictures and emotions. We want to be faster, stronger, more clever than everybody around. And to show it, that we are like that. We can "touch" everybody, include someone from the opposite side of Earth, so everyone can know each other.
What is the trick? To be lightly sparkling, don´t move like still water in the bottle is moving, but don´t move so much, that the lid will explode.

A few words about me
To be frank, I don´t like blog posts like this one. Many sentences talking about author of blog, in which we can´t see enything else in moment of publishing, only that first words. And, unfortunately, many times are that words the last, we will be ever able to read there. I promise, my blog will be not like this.
My name is Jana and I am from Slovakia. I was born in Košice but I live in Bratislava, the capital city, now. I work as Social Media Specialist in PR agency Neopublic Porter Novelli. More you can find on http://neopublic.sk or on the international website http://porternovelli.com. I have finished university studies in Mass Media with master degree.
During the studies I worked as a freelance journalist for more than six years. For my first touch with public relations I have to thank to non-profit organization Ulet, that I founded with my friend five years ago and to Regional Youth Centre in Košice, where I was helping with creating PR strategy and wroking as trainer in topics like communication, human rights and youth leaders.
And what about my leisure time loves? Cycling, hiking, skiing and cooking.
I am little afraid of writing in English, but I hope, my mistakes will not choke you off reading.
What do you think about "About me" blog posts? Are they necessary? Do you read them?
